Brew Fridge Redux

I first mentioned that I’d got a brew fridge way back in August 2011, it’s been sat in the shed unused and unloved ever since. For some reason I’ve just not had the time or inclination to get it all wired up to the Forttex TC-10 thermostat and tube heater. I really want to get a brew on though, so enough was enough and last week I took a day off work so that I could get it all wired up.

As you can see from the photos, it’s a bit of a Heath Robinson job, mainly as the double socket and box I’d bought were the wrong thing, as it only took one input for both sockets, not an input for each socket. In time I’ll get a proper box to house the Forttex TC-10 and get all the wiring hidden away, but this will suffice for the moment. Yesterday I placed an order with The Malt Miller for some grains, they should arrive today. I didn’t need to buy any hops as I currently have enough in the freezer for six brews, with half a kilo of Amarillo on it’s way courtesy of @pdtnc.

I think I’ve decided on some recipes for my next four brews, I’ll detail them as and when the brew days happen. In the mean time, there will be another blog coming along soon, that will tell the sorry tale about my first two attempts at all grain brewing…
